How to Convert Text Documents to PDF Format
using GhostView (Windows,Linux,OS/2,MAC)

The procedure below shows the steps to follow for converting document files to Adobe's PDF format using GhostView.

Under Windows most document files, spreadsheets etc. (Word, Excel, Wordpad etc.) can be converted to PDF. Proceed as follows:

1. Download and install the free GSView. (MAC version is here.)

2. Search the Windows printer drivers under Settings for a 'Postscript' (PS) driver and install it. Any Postscript driver will do.

3. Open the document you want to convert to PDF format.

4. Select PRINT and then the Posctscript printer you installed in step 2.

5. Check 'Print to File'. (This way the file is not printed on the printer.)

6. Enter a file name with the extension .prn.

7. Open the file created in step 6 with GSView. (Usually clicking it should do.)

8. Select FILE --> CONVERT --> PDF Write, then select the resolution.

9. Click OK.

10. Enter the file name with the .PDF extension.
